I've recently upgraded my various boxen from Ubuntu 10.04 to 10.10 and 11.04, and there appears to be a regression - although I'm not sure if it's in Ubuntu's handling of direct disk access or how Wine / Crossover handles it.
Essentially this app will only run effectively if in Windows NT4 sp6 mode, this forces SPTI as the disk access mode, rather than ASPI.
As this is a companion app to DVD Decrypter, it also affects that program.
In previous versions of Ubuntu prior to 10.10 and crossover 9 series, there was no issue with the software automagically recognising the mounted DVD from the underlying OS.
In the later versions of Ubuntu - 10.10 and 11.04 (confirmed on both versions with the same hardware), this automagic detection no longer occurs.
The workaround (after much experimentation) is as follows:
Insert DVD and make sure is mounted by the OS.
Go to Crossover --> Manage Bottles
Select the Ripit4Me bottle
Click on Control Panel tab, select Wine Configuration and press the Launch Item button.
In Wine configuration app:
- click on the Drives tab
- click Add and select the next available drive letter.
(Autodetect used to work at this point, but no longer does for some reason) - next to the Path field, click the Browse button
- navigate to the mount point of the DVD in question
- highlight the folder containing the mounted DVD and click ok
- then click ok or apply
You can now run Ripit4Me and it will detect the DVD appropriately.
If any Ninjas are watching - I'm running the Ubuntu edition of crossover Pro on 11.04 (version 10.0.2).
Hope this is helpful to someone.
