Been playing Rift on my iMac for a few months without problems.

Today they launched the Streaming Client and suddenly I couldn't play anymore.

Everytime i tried to hit "Update" in the patcher, the Rift Error window showed up.

What worked for me was the following:

Start the Rift Launcher
Login
Start Task Manager from your bottle
Kill "riftpatcherrorhandler.exe"
Click Update in the Rift Launcher
Wait for the files to convert
*Play!

This worked for me, hope it can help others.

I have the same promlem... but can´t find how to open the task manager of crossover..

• Start the game Rift
• Configure (on menubar on top off screen)
• Manage bottles
• Select the bottle you need (rift)
• On the right - choose 'control panel'
• The 4th item in the list for me "Taakbeheer (dutch)" - probably "Taskmanagement"
• Launch the selected item
• Choose processes (2nd tab)
• Kill the process mentionned in post 1.

Hope it works for you. For myself, it begins the download :)

To get to the Task Manager in CrossOver:

1. Launch CrossOver.
2. Go to Configure>Manage Bottles.
3. Select Rift bottle and click Control Panel tab.
4. Double-click on Task Manager.

Then find 'riftpatcherrorhandler.exe' in 'Processes' tab

Thanks for the reports and the workarounds everyone.

We just released a new patcher update that fixes these crashes. The patcher will not run riftpatcherrorhandler.exe anymore, since it's not that useful for Wine anyway.

seems to work fine here, just updated and have 0 issues (linux)
