Rift launches, runs video, then errors occur.

I have installed Crossover and Rift on my less than 2 month old Mac Book Pro. I can launch the game and log in perfectly. The first time I logged in the intro video played with no problems. Then when the loader comes up to get you to the character screen errors occur. It doesn't necessarily tell me what the error is other than RIFT - Error Handler. RIFT has encountered and error, and gives me an option to send the error or cancel.

I was looking through the forums looking for similar issues but didn't really see any. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm having the same issue, here is my macbook pro hardware:
Processor 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74)

I can get through the login and then it crashes. The rift.log doesn't show anything helpful.

have you tried setting "LegacyRenderer" to "True" inside the "rift.cfg" file?

To get there, launch Crossover Games and go to Configure>Manage Bottles. Select your RIFT bottle, and then head to Advanced>Open C: Drive in Finder. Browse to

drive_c/users/crossover/Application Data/RIFT/rift.cfg

open "rift.cfg" in a text editor, and change "LegacyRenderer" to "True". Save the file, close it, re-lauch RIFT.

Thank you for posting this. I am currently evaluating CrossOver Games and could not get RIFT to get to the character selection screen due to crashes.

i tried this but when i opened rift.cfg, the only thing typed was -

[VIDEO]
windowmode = 1

please help

I know it's been a really long time, but:

If the file is nearly empty, you may be able to get it regenerated by removing the rift.cfg file. If it still comes back only partial, then add a blank line followed by:

[Video]
LegacyRenderer = True

save the file, and see whether that helps.
