After some hours of use after installing the update I've found Rift (current version as of today) runs better and more reliably than previously. I've run it in both the default renderer and the low quality renderer with the usual performance differences on a 2010 macbook pro with an i7 and nvidia video adapter running Lion.
-
No crashes to desktop since using the new version. Previously these would
occur every hour or so. -
Better (but not perfect) graphics tearing. Some effects are just not rendered
well, specifically the glow effects around artifacts (example) and players, the
target indicator and some others. -
Performance is quote playable even with the standard (not LQ) renderer
except in high lag situations such as invasion boss encounters and such,
but I get this under native windows. 😊 -
Small fonts are still clunky and can be difficult to read - e.g. quest text and
so on. I run with global ui size set to 0.80 and rendering at 1920x1200. I
think this is an aliasing issue with fonts in general, although larger sizes
appear to be anti-aliased and render well.
