RIFT 1.3 Hotfix #4

As of writing, the update to RIFT patch 1.3 Hotfix #4 has broken compatibility. What we're seeing is that after logging in, pressing "play" on the launcher client is useless, and the game never fully launches.

This behavior is present with Crossover Games 10.1 and the "hacked" version we put out yesterday to fix Hotfix #3.

We're working on it, and will post updates to this thread as we get them.

Thanks for the quick action!

do you think you guys will have another workaround anytime soon? im jonesing for my rift fix!

thanks!

This was obviously a really bad time for me to try Crossover Games trial and Rift trial.

Thanks for your continued work on the issues.

FYI Trion posted on the rift forums saying they've found the problem and will have it fixed in the next hotfix. Glad they responded so fast, but why wait for another hotfix?! They just released one this morning and now we have to wait another couple days because they didn't fix the problem like they said in this last hotfix?

why wait? because your running THEIR game on an unsupported OS? be grateful they even PROVIDE support for us.

Look, I understand that Trion does not even have to support us and they are basically doing us a favor and I am grateful. What I don't understand is why they are going to wait to patch this specific issue in a future hotfix when they could potentially patch it by itself now. Is there a reason they wait? Do they not patch single fixes at a time? These are serious questions too, so if you actually know something I don't then share. On another note, why don't you take a deep breath and relax. Just because they are doing us a favor does not mean we have to keep our mouths shut and not ask questions.

why would they go through the hassle of updating their live servers with a patch that is only going to effect a small community of unsupported OS gamers, that could potentially cause problems for the rest of their playerbase? if that happened their would be a huge outrage, they dont give us special treatment, they treat us like the rest of their supported OS players and tell them all to wait for the next hotfix

Ok, I think we've got something, here!

Download the "ntdll.dll" file, and copy it to the "drive_c/windows/system32/" folder within your RIFT bottle, over-writing the existing version of that file.

On Mac, this will be:

/(home)/Library/Application Support/Crossover Games/Bottles/RIFT/drive_c/windows/system32/

And on Linux:

~/.cxgames/RIFT/drive_c/windows/system32/

And then launch Crossover Games and RIFT.

Our fine friends at Trion will also be releasing another hotfix, tomorrow, which will include a fix for this latest issue. Please cross your fingers and send positive thoughts to that effort :)

Well idk why your having problems :( but its working for me, although the graphics are very buggy

Still not working for me but I get farther now (past the splash screen) instead of just sitting at the launcher.

I will update my ticket.

Makes you wonder if they are going to release a download client for Mac or Linux users. No offense to codeweavers, great bunch of guys who work really hard and I appreciate them letting me enjoy PC games without banging my head against the wall.

I keep getting 'Access Denied!' Am I doing something wrong? It's not a big deal if their working on a fix tomorrow. Just wondering why I keep getting access denied.

Hi,

I just checked the link and it's working fine ; I've no
idea why it's not working for you.

Cheers!

I got that too, when i was copying and pasting the code in. Try doing it manually, it worked for me.

Thanks! It worked that way. I figured it'd work with a copy/paste.

It does, that's what I did =)

I copy/pasted the file above and finally got the game to launch. Is it just me or are the graphics really poor for everyone else playing this through Crossover? The gameplay is also very choppy. When I look at gameplay screenshots online it looks amazing and I'm nowhere near that. Also, if I press 'C' in game to bring up my character screen the game crashes. All other options down there appear to work. It also crashes if I attempt to change resolution. I'm playing on a new iMac 27" with the i7. I currently have the straight up Mac client of WoW and don't have any graphical/lap/choppiness issues.

What you describe is correct and being worked on.

What is? The graphics, choppiness, character button crash or all of it?

All the above are known issues. The char screen issue I believe is only happening on macs (and linux pcs) that have ATI(AMD) graphics.

You can get a better answer by submitting a support ticket if you bought Crossover Games.

To echo Cojocaru, what you describe is a known problem with ATI graphics cards, especially on Mac. The ATI drivers have much greater difficulty handling the graphical function calls from RIFT-via-Crossover than do the NVidia drivers. We're continuing to work on this particular issue to try and find performance improvements, but the bulk of it comes down to improvements which are needed in the driver, and those we cannot do much about.

Has the issue with Crossover games and rift been corrected. I downloaded the trial the other day and still can not get the game to run under crossover.

I have downloaded the hacked ntdll.dll and put it into correct place but when I click on play on the patch the game just dies.

if you're still having this problem, can you please submit a support ticket

https://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/enter/

And advise as to the OS version and type of Graphics card you've got?

Cant post on it because im on the 7 day trial

In that case, send an email to info@codeweavers.com to the same ends.
