yeah, same here no longer working. Error 1026 now. and yes did everything in tips and tricks.
any thing else? shoot myself?
exact same problem here. Rift is the reason i got crossfire! much anticipation for a fix, thanks devs :)
Ever since the Rift patch 1.2 I have been receiving a error #1026. Please fix as soon as possible. This game is the reason I bought crossover. Thanks
I'm not seeing anything in the various RIFT logs, which leads to believe it's an issue with WINE even starting it up - it's just not getting to the stage in RIFT where RIFT starts logging things itself (I think). Anyways, here's what I see in my logs regarding CrossOver/wine:
5/10/11 12:43:17 PM [0x0-0x9b19b1].com.codeweavers.CrossOverGamesHelper.RIFT.RIFT/.Play RIFT[64489] wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x10405a4d at address 0x8c6afc (thread 001a), starting debugger...
More. Attempting to run rift.exe from the "Run Command", with logging, I get (in part):

I've made a ticket for this at http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=846293;layout=user_tickets;sort%5Bstatus%5D=ASC
same here, and i'm glad im not the only one
DId anybody here go on the alpha server?
I'm wondering if we can submit either a ticket or a forum topic when the alpha server goes live with the latest update. That way devs can take a look at whether X-fire is working in advance so we dont all have to freak out on the day of a patch.
Yup, same problem for me too. Add this to the list of issues playing this game using Crossover, I would really like my money back for this software seeing as the only reason i bought it was to play Rift. Being told "our developers are working on the issues" from the ticket I have put in oh, about a month ago and still no resolution to former issues and now this (Major) issue, I do not feel that they were ready to truly say this is usable for the game RIFT. Not a fan right now.
Not working here either. Rift ran perfectly on my machine before the 1.2 patch.
I would suggest you run it again later. Trion's first attempt at today's patch was a disaster and it crashed in all platforms repeatedly. I am updating my Mac version right now and will report if the problem is solved.
I just got home from work and attempted the update, I am a sad panda. I am now going to stalk the forums and read a book.
I have opened a ticket, but I imagine that CrossOver will hang back and see if it's all Trions fault.
I blame Blizzard.
Fare enough, I suspected this as a possibility as well. In what manner are u updating your mac version though? completely reinstalling it? Looking fwd to your reply.
truth is in the past three days i have really been enjoying this game and am just eager and probably impatient to be playing it. that being said, i'll be incredibly bummed if its not timely solved. because what then?
I had been playing Rift on a wineskin wrapper I had made until this morning. Then the patch came out... Basically I fail to connect to the server when I hit the "play" button. I am going to give crossover a try instead. It seems to perform better for me with other games. But I will be waiting with the rest of you for now it seems.
I am just running the patcher and using the "recover" option. I had to update twice on my Windows machine,so I thought that might be the problem. After updating, the patching error persists,so it appears to be more serious than I expected.
this is getting expensive, so is the next step buying windows 7 and running bootcamp?
i suppose, it unfortunately might be.
it looks like, now at least - 4pm est, from trion message boards, that all servers and patches are running smoothly. so yeah .... serious.
Right. I too am investigating the boot camp offering. I'm disappointed in Crossover. Game has locked up numerous times, I have to change coding on a regular basis just to get it to run in the first place (and everytime game locks up I have to repeat this), I can't run the game in high graphics, and now this. I've given them ample time to address the issues (not this current one as it's just happened) with nothing from them as far as a fix to known issues.
The software may work great for other games, but for RIFT my experience has not been good. I gladly take my money back if I could "return" the software, but will have to accept that I just wasted money. Live and learn, shoulda gone the bootcamp route in the first place.

About the other above issues (such as the lower graphics and issues running the game), I'm afraid that this game is rated as "Silver", so you should still expect some issues or bugs in the game. This new bug does break the game, though, so they should try to fix it in order to maintain the Silver rating. I can't say for sure if they are waiting to see if it will be resolved by Trion (could be a bug on their end, or maybe a waiting to see if they would put out another small patch which might fix it), but if the bug isn't resolved by Trion soon, Codeweavers will take a look at the bug, if they haven't done so already, and try to find a good way to fix it.
You may be able to get a refund for your purchase of Crossover. Codeweavers has been pretty generous with refunds, from what I understand. Couldn't hurt to ask.
Hibba.
same here, my instincts told me that when i was doing this. just the video for them installing rift seemed so damn easy. and since i am a sucker i bought it. i really just don't feel like buying windows, which version of Win 7 anyway? Whenever i google it there are several dozen different versions. i should be able to dl rift again from the digital version i bought the other day when i got crossover? should.
also even if this is fixed .... soon or later...
can we expect this sort of confusion every single tuesday??? that would suck!
you guys are cracking me up....give CW time to address the issue with the new patch. its been live for like 5-6hrs?? i havent had one problem with running rift on my macbook except since todays patch. all the other lil updates/patches they have done since launch never caused any problems and its not like this is the only game CW is setup for...just be patient...i'm sure they will have a fix for us. oh and before ya pipe in that its been on the test server for a while now...everyone knows u dont update a program like this based off the code on a test server cuz they change it every 5 mins there :P
Its not just OS X. Its Linux too. I had it rockin no problems. the 1026 error all the time but I just kept pushing play and it would eventually not throw the error and go. Since the patch all I get is the needs to close and send an error report dialog. Im installing it in a vista bottle to see if that works. I'll let you know.
Don't knock codeweavers their software is awesome. I couldn't imagine piecing all this together with wine. It would be such a pain in the ass. Windows is absolutely out of the question for me. Should I not be able to get RIFT to work again which I'm sure I will. Tirion will be giving me a refund not crossover. WoW still works in the same bottle. It's on their end and it has something to do with their patch. You can re-download and go play on Europe servers as they are not 1.2 yet. It's the patch.
I understand it has a silver rating. Does this mean I should expect lock ups 4 times in 2 hours every time i play? That I should have to change code every time it does lock up just to get it to run after it locks up? Add the lower graphic settings i need to run to get F.P.S. just to get it "barely" usable. Now this. I'm not bashing codeweavers, as i have said in earlier posts I'm sure it works well with a lot of other games, but for me, on both my Mac's (different computers) it is glitchy as heck, and it's been a month and so far no fixes for my above mentioned issues, and wonder how long it might be for this current one to be solved. And, secondly, waiting for Rift to fix the issue? Uh, its' not their issue, its codeweavers issue lol.
No dice with the vista bottle. I get a wine go see codeweavers error message when I try to start it from the vista bottle and get a send error report to Tirion if I use an xp bottle.

Trion will be giving you a refund for codeweavers? Hand over whatever it is your smoking lol. How is this Rift's fault? Their game runs on PC, not MAC, and you knew this prior (or should have) to buying.
My expectations arn't over the top. They make a claim that I can run the game. It has a few bugs, and I guess my interpretation of a few is different. Constant crashes and the lot, and now this. Maybe they need to lower their rating to bronze to better reflect, or if its just a few models of Mac, list the ones that are actually silver and ones that are bronze. I dunno. Either way, I'm disapointed in myself for jumping on it without enough research. Lesson learned.
I'm going on the assumption that since my earlier post CodeWeavers all went home for the night which explains why the two tickets I see for this are still sitting at "open" status. Safe bet that I can write off any response until the morning. You wacky kids have fun and good luck!
This is the response from Trion on their Tech support forums.Paraphrased.
"This is not our problem, talk to WINE or Codeweavers"
OK Codeweavers, the ball is now in your court.
Erm. Guys? Chill.
Silver means "it has known bugs and does not run flawlessly".
Trion is one company that is shipping one product (give or take).
Codeweavers is one company that maintains a wrapper around another piece of software that is, itself, a wrapper around an entire OS which then itself runs millions of applications. To expect instant gratification on patch day for one of those said millions of applications is insane. Either try and help out (by submitting tickets, attempting to debug or log, etc.), checking the WINE forums for further information, or put your +1s in without threatening to take your toys and go home.
Yes, some of you bought this to play RIFT (I did too, for example AND I ALREADY RUN BOOT CAMP AND PARALLELS!), and yes, some of you have tickets that haven't been updated for months (I've been watching the lack of updates too), and yes, some of you seem to have crashing bugs (weird - I'm not seeing that at all - are you running in low graphics mode or not), but endlessly increasing a forum thread is NOT helpful.
I am not a shill for CodeWeavers.
everything else works as I said World of Warcraft works in the same bottle. It's Tirion's deal. They broke it flat out. Probably somebody at Tirion was under the desk over at Microsoft. They want us to have to use windows to be able to play their game. They do this all the time. That's how Microsoft makes money. Thats what they do. Not make software. The software is garbage and impossible to deal with. They make money by making you pay for it. That's what they do. Don't worry it's only a matter of time. There's a hack for this. That's what we do.
Tirion will be giving me a refund for game time for RIFT. It is their fault. It was working. I have proof. I have a level 36 and 3 level 31's and videos on youtube. I did know this about they making the game for PC not Mac, but I dont use a mac I use a PC with Linux. I wont pay for or use windows. It's too expensive to deal with the blood pressure medication and mood stabilizers I require to use Windows. Like I said it's not Wine. It's not Codeweavers. It's tirion. Their patch borked our ability to play on operating systems other than windows; probably deliberately. This is what disenfranchisement is. I posted on this particular thread because it was related to 1.2 failing. There wasnt a linux thread otherwise I would've went there.
"Hey folks,
The game does not support Mac OS, Linux, or the Wine emulation platform - I'm not going to be able to provide any insight on this as it's not something we can pursue.
Not sure if this is something the developers of wine can resolve on their end, but that might be a better place to pursue support.
As for other Patcher related issues - we're continuing to investigate them, we appreciate your patience!
Thanks and apologies I can't provide more information! "

I'm on Linux Ubuntu and I'm getting the same error as you Mac users since the patch, I played last night with no issues. Downloaded and installed the patch with no issues also.
I think I'll put in another ticket also, not such a whiney one this time ;)
In the meantime if you don't mind playing with the legacy renderer in low quality Parallels does run the game. VMWare could possibly as well. Its not pretty but it works with 1.2 and performance is fine. It's what I'm using until the issue with is resolved here.
I highly doubt that:
Suggesting that "Trion broke it!" is both accurate and disingenuous. Of course Trion "broke it" - that's obvious because it was working before and now it isn't. But to then imply that Trion "broke it deliberately" or that it is Trion's "problem" is disingenuous. 1.2 works fine on my Windows laptop, and that's the only place Trion /expects/ to work. Any other OS, any other configuration, is an unsupported hack, whether "we" paid for it or expect it to work.
Same. And, BTW, a community manager announcement providing a status would be really helpful.
What can I say Im cynical.
I tried to run it in the new wine 1.3 provided by Ubuntu 11.04
wine .cxgames/RIFT/drive_c/Program\ Files/RIFT\ Game/rift-live.exe

I installed vcredist and dx9redist. Same deal as crossover package 10.10 No start error sent to Trion
Trion broke it? Where is this logic? Trion makes a product that they claim runs on windows operating systems. They make no claim that it runs on anything else (that i'm aware of). As long as it works for what they claim, seems to me it's hardly their issue. This is a crossover issue, as in you pay crossover your money, and their product enables you to use something not designed to run on whichever system you might have.
It's not the end of the world, if they get it working in a timely manor. I'm not upset by this current issue, i'm upset that the other issues have not been addressed and wonder how long this issue will be there, and now wonder even if they fix this current issue, it seems it will be an ongoing issue as Trion updates their game in the upcoming future.
Like I said earlier, perhaps my interpretation is skewed on how many "bugs" I should be expecting. I'm not saying there shouldn't be any bugs, but when there are, and known ones, I'd like some resolution to them in a fair amount of time.

I said that, 12 hours ago. My my, things really got ridiculous in the interim. Kudos to those providing tickets. May u rot in moron hell for suggesting Trion broke it on purpose.
A word from code weavers would be nice yes. Usually you don't hear about things when people don't have answers. They probably don't? Not a great sign but a sign nonetheless. I never really expected this to work at all, but it did and it worked really well. Maybe it will again. This may well happen every tuesday. Since the few days I spent with Rift doing the usual addict shit i do; living with rules, dressing female elves, adding horns and body armor to myself, obsessing about the next prize my impatience for immediate more can't be fulfilled. Live and learn someone said. Exactly. Ill buy windows and get bootcamp up and running. Why the F not?
Thanks for support and suggestions.
It wasn't a suggestion. These things happen for a reason.
It isn't codeweavers. Crossover simplifies wine. Wine can be complicated and difficult especially if you're not using it all the time. I can say this in Trion's defense. The things added in the new patch are things that are not yet supported by wine. They weren't implemented to deliberately exclude users. Although I did feel that way. The new features make graphics rendering impossible without legit directx and as much as I prefer OpenGL over directx, the new features implemented to RIFT that take advantage of directx's more esoteric features will blow other games out of the water. The same things can be duplicated with OpenGL however, they are extremely difficult to implement over and over again with many different iterations. You basically have to write new code for every picture whereas with directx you have more reusable code and it makes it easier to re-create more astonishing in-game experiences. Like the new dialog's for looking for group and equipment manager for example cannot be done without directx.
Bump, it is now the 11th.
I understand that kinks and bugs like this happen and I am not asking you to wave your magic wand and magically fix the problem but I would just like to see an acknowledgment from codeweavers that it is a bug and/or they are working to resolve the problem. Many of us on this thread (myself included bought crossover games just for this product. If the problem is not resolved or confirmation that something is being done to address it in a timely manner then I know I would like a refund for this product has a Silver Medal (Officially Supported) on your website.
Well I'm officially sad... not even 1 day and this game is broken.
Sigh, Hard drive partitions are so over-rated
I wonder if this may have any assosiation with the issue we're having

Interesting, just started Rift and before it patched I got a little popup saying that you are running Rift under a wine configuration which is not supported and may not properly work, that looks new to me.
yeh it never said that for me either.

That was added by Trion with the 1.2 patch to indicate Rift does not work (and as such will be unsupported)
in Wine -- that means Crossover too of course....
Well I guess I can only hope Trion makes Rift compatible for Mac OS and Linux also.
I still dont see why they shouldn't. games such as wow. steam games and whatnot have Mac OS supported, which means its do-able

Well, at least now the error report can actually be sent.
I submitted a ticket to Rift to make them aware of the issue and they replied with the following:The recent patch has caused problems for some of our players. To remedy this and get you back into the game, you will need to run the Self Patcher. To do so, simply follow these instructions:
This should resolve your issue and get you back into playing Rift. I have set this ticket to "waiting", so please let us know whether or not this procedure worked for you.
I know how to do this on a PC but I'm a dummy when it comes to MAC. I'm new to MAC and was wondering if anyone knows if this can be done on a MAC.
