Hotfix #5 (6/30/11) Correcting Wine Compatibility

Should be good to go as soon as the servers come back up. (NA Shards are only ones being patched so far).

Testing this hotfix looks good for me!

I also tried removing the hack mentioned in the sticky thread (our new "ntdll.dll" file) and replacing the old file, and then logging in - success, as well.

This means that if you have a wholly unmodified version of Crossover Games 10.1, RIFT should work. If you modified the RIFT bottle with the new ntdll.dll file, RIFT should also work.

I still seem to be encountering issues, I currently have the ntdll fix in place and the new patch just downloaded and successfully installed yet for some reason on my Ubuntu 10.04LTS 64-bit system with an nvidia (and recommended proprietary drivers) graphics card, I can't get it to actually work.

I run dual screens in TwinView mode and am able to login without issue, however unlike World of Warcraft which is working (right now using WoW.exe directly thanks to a Blizzard loader update gone awry recently) I am unable to launch and play without graphics and sound issues.

If I elect Fullscreen mode from inital start of the RIFT launcher, it crashes at a loading screen for character selection, if I use Window mode, I get to character select but with many, many graphics glitches and usually a crash after selecting a character.

Probably not the best time to try RIFT for me on a seven day trial but WoW gets boring but that's beside the point, any ideas?

EDIT: Using Crossover Games version 10.1.0

Hotfix #5 still does not work for me. I get an alert "Direct3d initialization error" just after the game switched to full screen. I use the low quality renderer, so this does not seem to be the issue. Hardware: Macbook Pro 2009 with OSX 10.6.8 and Nvidia 9600GT 512MB.

I'm having issues as well. I get 8-9% into loading and the game crashes. I'm running a 2011 iMac 10.6.8.

I've tried it using the ntdll hack, I've tried starting in both fullscreen and windowed and it crashes at approximately the same time.

This morning we performed quite a few tests with the updated RIFT client on: Mac OS X 10.6 (x2 ATI macs and 1 NVidia), Fedora 15 64-bit (NVidia), and Ubuntu 11.04 (Nvidia). In each case, we had pretty smooth sailing.

It's probably safe to say that in the course of our test-heavy weeks we uninstall/re-install the RIFT client more than any (or at least most) of our users. Based on the observation that a clean install of RIFT in CX games 10.1 (not modified, just 'regular' 10.1) works well for us in the Mac and Linux environment, I'd recommend:

  • Re-install just Crossover (not any of your bottles), and then try RIFT.

  • Try the standard "use Legacy renderer" and "toggle between windowed and fullscreen" methods (it's best to set windowed from the login screen, prior to being in-game).

  • If you still get no joy, we'd next recommend a clean install of the RIFT client into a new bottle under Crossover Games 10.1. A pain, we know :/

If even after a clean install you're still not where you were, please file a support ticket so we can track your issue more closely.

What do you all have to say with regards to this situation:

New PC. Only saved things are the bottles for CX
Exported the bottle from where rift was a few weeks back.
F15 x64, CXG 10.1, proprietary NV drivers.
cxdiag --debug returns no .so failures.

Game locks after resetting my settings around 6% loading the char selection screen. I play windowed mode.

Thanks.
Andrew.

Update: See there is a new hot fix out. Changed me to fullscreen mode, but otherwise same result.
