Version 3. Registry Access problem?

Using the latest version of WINE (As of July 23rd 2004), I am able to successfully install Rhino 3.0.

When I attempt to run Rhino, the regular black loading screen with the rhino logo shows up, and on the right hand side is says "Connecting to License Manager".

After about 3 min. The loading screen disappears and a small box pops up that says "Unable to connect to License Manger". When you push 'OK' on that box, the Rhino thread quits.

Could someone with more knowledge find out why this is occuring?

FWIW, I've been able to succesfully install Rhino 2.0 in CXOffice 2. It works quite well but has a couple of quirks. From the top of my head:

  1. Plugins don't work.
  2. After entering an expression into the command line and hitting enter, that expression appears again and has to be deleted manually. Under these conditions, working with the command line becomes quite inefficient.

I actually wrote a report (with screenshots) a while ago and sent it to the maintainers of the predecessor of the compatibility center. They promissed to add it, but nothing has happened yet. Ah well, I've more important stuff to do now...

BTW, I haven't tested Rhino 2.0 under Crossover 3 yet.

What service pack of Rhino 2.0 did you use? I have been trying and trying to get SR3 to work, but after failing to load all of the plug-ins, it says "Unable to locate required system plug-in Rhino Cannot Run." I have tried the latest wine and CX 2.1 and 3.0.1. No luck.

Ah, I forgot to mention: You need to use a DLL from a Windows installation. Details can be found in my report (I discovered that I still have it):

As for the service pack: I use Rhino 2.0, 7-Aug-2001. IIRC, this is the first distributed version. Unfortunately, installing service pack 3 (I haven't tried the others) does not work with the CrossOver installer (from version 2 and 3).

BTW, I just installed CXOffice 3.0. Rhino again installed fine. The DLL is still needed but the command line bug is gone. This makes Rhino under CrossOver a lot more usable. Unfortunately, Flamingo still cannot be installed using the CrossOver Installer. Thus, if I need to run Rhino together with Flamingo or other plugins under LINUX (I hardly run Windows these days), I run it under Win4Lin with Win98SE installed.
