Excellent, somebody found my instructions. I didn't feel okay plugging them before since it would discourage potential Crossover Office purchases, but now that someone else has mentioned them, I will. 😊
Unfortunately, these instructions do not currently allow Rhapsody to function on Crossover Office, because the patches that have been accepted into the WineHQ version have not been integrated into Crossover Office 4.1. I have previously asked about how to get these patches into Crossover, and was told, submit them to WineHQ and they will eventually get in to Crossover. Hence, we wait...
So for now, Rhapsody partially functions under WineHQ. The instructions at that link do list the problems, but basic playback and playlist/library manipulation works.
Just as a note, I installed different Wiki software on my domain, so the instructions have moved to http://www.warpedview.com/index.php/Rhapsody_on_Linux
That's helpful... I was able to get it installed and running on 20050211. At least for the first time I run it. Every subsequent time, it gets as far as the window "Logging in... Please wait while we send your information to the registration server." and makes no visible progress past that point.
It does, however, recognize immediately when I use an incorrect password to log in. Hitting the "Cancel" on the "Logging in..." window also immediately responds.
I tried backing up my .wine directory, and restoring it seems to work. One of these days I'll try doing a diff compare to see what's changed. Is there a forum more appropriate for debugging issues like this?
Glad you found the instructions helpful, but because the version you are using is not Crossover Office, this is not the appropriate place to post this problem, and I will not answer it here.
However, there is an entry for Rhapsody in the AppDB at WineHQ at http://appdb.winehq.org . I am a maintainer for the Rhapsody entry there as well, so I will be able to answer questions about running on ordinary Wine over there. Please repost this question in that forum.
Hey Evan,
No worries with cross pollination; I think it's useful to maximize
information, not minimize it.

Okay, that's cool. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't stepping on any toes. I will migrate over some of the information from my personal page over here, all of course with the caveat that 4.1 won't run it at all.
In direct answer to the question, I have run into this issue previously but not recently, so I was beginning to think it had been fixed. I guess not. I'll drop that on the known issues page. I haven't found the source of the problem yet, but running a CPU-intensive process in the background can help.
OK, to follow up... when I log in, a new directory with the same name as my username is created-- it holds an index to the music library. Removing this directory every time I run the program seems to fix it. The downside is that it has to re-synchronize the library every time. The upside is that it works.
