Tbh, I've found no need for multiple installations of rFactor ... on
either machine here ... but, you need understand that I take about
as much notice of information for Windows users, as I do believe I
will live to 700 years of age ; I don't believe that ; and of course
I'm not running Windows, so why should I believe those advices? If
I was running a full-blown emulator with a copy of Windows installed,
perhaps then I might give such advices credence ... but I'm not, so
I don't. I have so many mods installed into the same rFactor bottle
on my linux system, the bottle itself is well over 10gb big...
...also, I wouldn't go copying license files about and be expecting
that to work - it may not, nor is it necessary really ; you get 5
unlock codes with an rFactor purchase (or is that 5 uses of the same
unlock code or such), and you can request more if needed. Ergo, if
I were to find the need for separate rFactor installs, I would just
register/activate via an unlock code...
...the latest CXG for Mac has a bug in it related to the use of
emulated virtual desktop, which is enabled in the crosstie ; I would
disable this setting in the Wine Configuration GUI at present...
...I'm a tad suspicious of problem with CXG 10.1.2 and macos 10.7 +
ati video -- I've a number of other games doing weird things since
those 2 junctures, and it's near impossible to do any regression
testing because I would need revert the OS back to 10.6.5 to run an
earlier CXG release ... which will prove nothing (the same catch22
when Steam updated their client)...
..multiple installs should be as simple as installing rFactor (again)
into a different bottle (with a different name). The only thing that
may thwart that, is if rFactor is keeping common files in the same
location in your home directory - I haven't checked, so that would
be an exercise for the reader here. If rFactor is storing game
specific data in your home directory, you may need to use another
(different) user account on your machine to achieve those ends (or
else you'll need to manage the common data somehow)...actually...
...use rFactor-Lite for this sort of thing anyhow...ie; if you have
one track/series you wish to contain in a separate environment, it's
quicker (and takes up less diskspace) to use the Lite version...
