Red Dead Redemption 2 Forum

I bought it on Steam Sale yesterday, never had the time or motivation to play. I will probably play this anytime in the future, but my biggest hope is to play it through CrossOver on my Intel Mac, because I hate Bootcamp or Parallels.

Could anybody please give some details / roadmap on when this should be able to run on an Intel Mac?

Our gaming on the Mac depends on the MoltenVK Project. There are parts of Direct3D that need things that don't currently exist in Metal. Metal 3 might get closer, but it also depends on MoltenVK being updated for the new Metal 3 features. Our developers are keeping eyes on MoltenVK and also contribute to it. It is a major undertaking that will take quite a bit of time. All this could have been avoided if Apple directly supported Vulcan, but since they went with their own hardware API, this is the path we are on.

I've read that Metal 3 will be supported on all Apple Silcon Macs, Intel MacBook Pro 13", 15" and 16" (2017 and later), Intel MacBook Air (2019 and later), iMac (some 2019 models and later), MacPro (2019 and later), MacMini (2018 and later), iMac Pro (2017 and later), so incl. my MacBook. Hopefully MoltenVK will bring the necessary layer for DX12 to play those games.
