Please explain?

Hi,

I installed this using the provided c4p file in CXO-9.0.1

Here, it throws numerous OLE errors and does not function at all ;
on some DVD's I get OLE errors just selecting the .IFO file, the
rest of the time if I don't get that error there, hitting 'convert'
immediately spawns a different OLE error every time -- basically
the program does nothing at all here (Debian 5.0.4 + updates), and
I notice during the installation part of ratdvd itself (and on the
homepage) that you need to have a windows based media player installed
to play files from a ratdvd container, but none is provided be the
c4p ...??....can you please explain, in detail, what you did to get
this running at Gold medal ranking?..ie; "The Gold is awarded to
applications that install and run as you would expect them to in
Microsoft Windows. This means that the consensus of our users is that
you can expect to use these applications on an everyday basis with
good results, and only minor bugs." ...citing;

Hi Don, I have the same version of CXO that you have

I know exactly what the gold medal is, and I know exactly how this application runs on Windows as I use this one for years.

To make it work I just need to install it via C4P.

More detail than video in full resolution is impossible I think, so here's a video installing it on new bottle using C4P and running and converting...

Video here

Hi,

Thanks for the video....however, I didn't see where

you selected a physical DVD/CD device to rip - obviously you've
used some other program to get the DVD content into your $HOMEDIR
first? Reading the ratdvd FAQ suggests something along those lines...

Please understand, I actually have no use for this as such - I'm
merely (always ;) checking/testing C4 content for accuracy etc, and
when I installed via c4p (exactly as the video shows) and got OLE
errors all over the place, I went "Huh?" -- have you ever gotten this
software to read from a DVD/CD device at all? I only ask as I have
unencrypted DVD's here, and it doesn't seem to read the either (more OLE errors).

If this is the case (won't read from a device), perhaps a posting here
in this forum to alert folks of this fact may be prudent?

Cheers!

Hi Don,

I know and I appreciate that you are madding testes.

The DVD was in folder, RatDVD can't handle conversion via physical DVD even in Windows. The problem is that this application was discontinued in 2005 because the creator found he could sell this to a company and founded FluxDVD. He never posted as promise the source code. So this app have some bugs and tricks of using. The direct playback no longer works in Windows XP SP2 or later.

But it is still the only app that converts ratdvd to dvd and vice versa, this format is common in p2p file sharing because makes uploading retail dvds much more easy.

I gonna give it a more intense use this week and see will behave
