I've the same problem. Installed by Steam and not work.
Hi,
Pity they don't have a demo of this title...(I'd be able to have a closer look ;)
I suppose, going by the gist of the text, you never actually get to the point of
being able to run this title in 'offline mode'...as per ;
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3160-AGCB-2555
By your brief descriptions of what you're seeing, it never gets this far...correct?
As a matter of exercise, if possible, I would try one of the later COG releases (just
seeing as 7.2.2 is mentioned, I should mention this ;)
By the sounds of it, the program is failing before it gets anywhere -- a couple of
things to try would be;
Enabling 'emulate a vitual desktop' using winecfg
Installing directx runtime modern into the associated bottle
Perhaps it needs some other service-pack/dependency - perhaps it's trying to pull
it's GUI using an ieframe based setup, in which case some more serious investigative
magic will need be used...
Please also ensure you include your OS/platform used -and- videocard model when
reporting issues (and in the linux case, which video drivers)...
Without a demo to experiement with, no entry over at WineHQ to peruse, we're really
in the dark here -- what would really help, is some debug trace (from someone who
actually has this title), so we can see what's going on. In linux, I would probably
give wine-1.1.32 a spin and see if anything is improved there....
Post back if you need any info on the above, or email info@codeweavers.com and perhaps
they might have a suggestion of somethings to try as well (I'm a linux person, not Mac)
Cheers!
I'm also trying this game. There main problem I believe with making this game work have to do with the reliance on the Microsoft .NET framework. I've installed the windows version of mono as suggested by the error logs for crossover games. This helped in that I'm now getting actual results in the error log for what is going wrong:
CrossOverGamesHelper.Steam.Steam/.Steam[52786] Unhandled Exception: System.Exception: Generic Error [GDI+ status: GenericError]

CrossOverGamesHelper.Steam.Steam/.Steam[52786] at WrapperNS.Program.Main (System.String[] args) [0x00000]
You can see that I'm using the steam version of this game, Crossover Games is version 8.1.3.
I've tried switching the gdiplus.dll to be native, and builtin, neither work.
I've also tried this game in Parallels desktop 5, and while it gets farther (it displays the startup GUI which is what I assume is trying to use GDI above here), it still doesn't actually get as far as the actual game part of the game (which I would presume uses DirectX like everything else).
Any insight or next steps would be appreciated.
Hi,
If this title requires .NET 2.0 SP1 or earlier, you could try something like..
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=6674;forum=1;msg=67931
(if it reuqires .NET 3.0 or greater, you'll have to wait for these supports
to be added at some future time)
Cheers!
I've got the same problem. Anyone got any updates?
Hello all,
I have got my copy of Railworks 4: Train Simulator 2013 to work on the newest version of CrossOver (v12.0.0) on my Mac (v10.8.2 Mountain Lion). It seems as though the application tries to download its own versions of the dependencies it needs to run, most of which are not compatible with WINE in the state that they're in. The solution to this issue and additional information on how to run the game is included on the application's page. While I have never actually tested this version of the game, I am fairly certain that it can work under those circumstances. If any of you have testing information or questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I would be more than willing to help.
Cheers,
Gavin Jacobs
