Quicken 2020 - Can't Launch nor Log Into Intuit and "Failed to Resolve function... Kernel32"

Hello All --

Recently I found that I could no longer run Quicken 2020 with the latest updates (which are now forced upon login by Intuit.) When I try to start Quicken, it wants me to log in to Intuit's online services (this is different than the password needed to open my .qdf file). A blank window titled "Enter Quicken ID Password" opens with no other items visible in the window, and then I quickly receive another small popup saying: "Failed to resolve function RaiseFailFastException in KERNEL32.DLL". If I click "OK", this error message reappears again. I can then close the blank "Enter Quicken ID Password" window, but the underlying quicken application is then no longer responsive and I have to quit entirely. I've tried messing around with various Wine settings, including reinstalling Quicken 2020 from scratch, but no luck.

This is doubly frustrating because I started receiving this error on Crossover version 20 a few months ago. My subscription was out-of-date, so I upgraded to version 21, hoping for this issue to be fixed, but also no luck.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Thank you!

Me Too.

Hi folks,

This is mentioned in several other threads, but I'll answer here too. This error message is due to a recent update on Quicken's end that doesn't work well with CrossOver. We have a fix available in CrossOver 21.1, which is already in beta. Our BetterTesters have access to the beta build in the Beta Center. If you are not a BetterTester, you can contact our support team through the ticket system. If users have active entitlements that would allow them to upgrade to 21.1 once it is released, then they can give you access to the beta.

Best,
Meredith

Thank you, Meredith.

I do have an active license so I just contacted support and asked to be admitted to the .21.1 beta. They quickly responded, I downloaded the beta, and while there was a little bit of "strangeness" in getting Quicken started (where "strangeness" means having to cancel the Intuit login window a couple of times, some odd misplaced borderless windows titled "rundll32" hanging around, etc.) I was able to log in to my Intuit account and then use Quicken.

I don't see any other references to the current issue I am reporting in the Quicken 2020 forum here: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/forum/quicken-2020?

There are one or two older tickets from earlier this year, but they are marked as having been resolved in the past by previous Crossover updates. Maybe I am just missing something?

Thank you!

Great, glad to hear you're back up and running.

Other folks will often start threads in the "CrossOver Mac" or "CrossOver Linux" forums rather than the app-specific forums, so if you can't find anything in the app forums, it's often worthwhile to search the website to see if it's mentioned elsewhere :)

Best,
Meredith

Me too! With Quicken 2019 and Crossover 21.0.
"Failed to resolve function RaiseFailFastException in KERNEL32.dll"

I just encountered this "Failed to resolve function RaiseFailFastException in Kernel 32.dll." How was this resolved from these late 2021 posts?

A fix was released with CrossOver 21.1.

Best,
