Quicken 2006 Forum

When i install Quicken 2006 on a Mac with Beta 1, I only get a small portion of the screen and get lockups from when i try to read account data. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem - The account registers will not load; they will only show a small box. Once that happens, the entire application becomes unselectable. It's almost as if the application is working, yet there is a window that pops up, or a dialog box that appears that makes the rest of the screen unselectable with the mouse or keyboard.

i put the Quicken 2006 disc in my iMac, it recognized it and Crossover gave me an intall window, followed it with no changes, ran the program, pointed it to my backup file, and it opens a small window in the top right corner that looks like the Quicken personal main page, and it locks up.
has anyone found a work around?

I've got the same exact problems. Has anyone opened a bug report yetet?

We saw this, too. We don't yet know what causes it.

We did find a workaround of sorts. When a window is unresponsive like that, try pressing Ctrl-W or Alt-F4 (use either Command or Option for Alt). That will close it. After that, you can often re-open the window and it will work fine. It's quite strange.

I've been trying several containers, just about every configurable option, and testing installing additional apps like DCOM, etc. to see if it would help. So far no luck.

I'm determined to get this to work. This is the #1 app for me to get working, so I signed on as an advocate. If you have any hints, please pass 'em my way.

In the mean time, I'll be trying to see about what kind of debugging tools are available to see if I can narrow this down.

I will file a bug when I have more info on what's busted. I'm coming up to speed on how to debug this product. I'll pass on anything I learn.

To get Quicken 2006 to work on Crossover 6.0b1 on the Mac, you need to install some prerequisite software:

Create a bottle. I used Win98.
Install IE6
Install Adobe Flash
Install Apple Quicktime
Install DCOM98 (search the web for it)
Install Quicken 2006

The windows will still appear small, but now you can resize them. So far, some simple functionality works just fine.

I've used a copy of my real Quicken 2006 database, with a few years of info in it. I successfully downloaded transactions from my bank, some credit cards, investment accounts, my retirement account and others.

I've been able to run some of my saved reports with no problems, and pulled up some other various screens without much difficulty.

I have problems with windows showing up properly, or the refresh is slow, but these can all be worked around. I haven't found any showstoppers yet. Looks like there's some real promise of this being a viable solution!

Great work. I was on the same path of the individual components but stalled without sucess. I will try the DCOM98 tonight or tomorrow and post confirmation.

Question: You mention installing Quicktime. If this is already intalled are you suggesting to reinstall?
