Strange Memory error

I found that if I install the .Net and other supporting software first myself, instead of letting the Quickbooks installer do it, then the programs seem to install better. Quickbooks itself installs fine afterwards. But when I run it, it stops loading and gives this message: "QuickBooks requires 2.5 megabytes (2560K) of free RAM. Close other applications in order to free up memory."

WTF?
