- Start Crossover Configuration
- Select install software
- Select Quickbooks - This applies for 2003 and 2004 versions.
- Follow prompts to completion. You will get an error that QuickBooks requires Internet Explorer 6 in order to run. Ignore this error until the installation is completed.
- Once installation is completed (it will be into a Win 98 bottle), start Crossover Configuration again. This time, install Internet Explorer from the list of applications available. Do not use the version on the CD.
- On completion of the install, QuickBooks 2004 Pro seems to work very well. I'm prepared to say to bronze standard.
Problem areas that I've found so far:
- Printing, which is serious as it causes lack of usability.
- Some graphics do not display correctly, appearing as a red Xx
- A significant number of Microsoft Internet Explorer errors occur. e.g "Cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Pro\components\help\help_support.html' " There appears to be a fair number of the required files missing, that probably requires further investigation.
Incidentally, then same approach works for Crossover Office 5, with an additional issue with certain graphics becoming scrambled.
