it was a bit of a pain for me to get this application installed and running. i have documented below the steps i took to finally get it to work. i hope this helps someone.
tested configurations:
software configuration:
-debian testing/unstable
-linux-2.6.13.2 kernel.org
-crossover-standard-demo-5.0.0
-crossover-pro-5.0.0
1] install crossover as root to /opt/cxoffice/.
ie. coredump:/tmp# ./install-crossover-standard-demo-5.0.0.sh
2] after this is complete run /opt/cxoffice/bin/cxsetup as a non root user.
ie: jayj@coredump:~$ /opt/cxoffice/bin/cxsetup
3] from the cxoffice menu > add/remove tab > click install software.
4] from the install software form select quickbooks > next
5] check the other *.exe file box and browse to the drive where the quickbooks disk is mounted. do not use the autorun or setup.exe located in the root of the cd. instead go to the QBOOKS dir and select setup.exe.
6] i installed this application in my main bottle. i had nothing else installed at the time so it made no difference. use your own discression.
7] once this install starts you will be prompted to install both dcom95 first and secondly internut explorer. install them both and procede.
8] i received two errors "the installer could not find a specific file" near the end of the instalation but they seems to have no effect on my over results.
9] once all three applications are installed click the quickbooks desktop icon and you should be up and running.
let me know if you have any questions.
