Hi,
For anyone who is interested, I got Quickbooks pro 2003 working with cxoffice 3.0.1, using SuSE 9.1 64bit. However, I must outline, it is an Australian version. You also will need a MS Office XP 2002.
What did I do:
First, I did a clean SuSE 9.1 64bit install and set up my user account. Then I installed cxoffice 3.0.1. With cxoffice, I installed DCOM95 through the express install. Next, I installed MS Office XP. The key is, you must install MS Office XP first, otherwise it will not work.
What I have noticed, when I installed office xp, it analysed cxoffice and performed an "cxoffice system update". It rebooted and then it installed office.
As the next step, I installed quickbooks pro. In cxoffice I choose the option "Quickbooks 2000", > cd-rom media. The installation went without any problems.
I did this proceedure 3 times. It succeeded every times. I am also using Acrobat 5. It works fine apart from the safe as function.
I think what is most important is that you have a clean user environment with a fresh cxoffice installation where no installation has failed before.
I've been using Quickbooks pro 2003 for some time now. It is very stable and has not crashed at all. It behaves in the same way as other quickbooks pro installation which have been reported to be working.
Cheers
Norbert
PS. If you are using a Athlon 64bit machine, the install button in cxoffice may hang, or cxoffice looks like it may have crashed. Give it 30-45 sec. it will come around.
