With the new release of CX 5, there are some minor changes in how to get things working nicely, as well as some tricks...
First off, THANKS to the CX staff for an excellent release in CX 5!! It is fast and stable! Very Good Work 😉
- Install CX (I prefer the loki install from user acct).
- From CX Configuration menu, select DCOM95 and install (all you need is an internet connection, it will download and install for you). DCOM may not be needed, but it seems to have a way of breaking some apps like update agents etc, so i would definitely install it.
- From CX Config menu, install Internet Explorer 6 (only need internet again).
- From CX Config mneu, select Quickbooks Pro, and make sure installation disk is in drive, follow prompts.
- Wait for all installation to finish and you should have a working copy.
Suggestion, disable your internet connection for quickbooks (select netscape as default browser may work, or phony proxy info). This will disable unauthorized updates (different from automatic updates) which intuit may use to degrade usability to encourage upgrading (unless you need Quickbooks to connect to the net for payroll services etc.).
