changing:
[Software\\Wine\\Drives]
"y:"="%CXOFFICE_DRIVE_TYPE_HACK%"
"z:"="%CXOFFICE_DRIVE_TYPE_HACK%"
to:
[Software\\Wine\\Drives]
"c:"="hd"
"y:"="%CXOFFICE_DRIVE_TYPE_HACK%"
"z:"="%CXOFFICE_DRIVE_TYPE_HACK%"
seems to have fixed this problem and allowed the install to complete.
Those registry entries are in ~/.cxoffice/dotwine/system.reg by the way.
Couple Tips:
-step 3 is good to do in normal windows install as well, program updates can (in MS Windows) be applied using dummy files).
that gets you up and running...
Now for updates i have been unsuccessful. I have tried:
Attempt 3 is most successful. Program identifies that new downloads need to be installed, and upon exit prompts whether to install updates. Unfortunately program closes immediately after clicking "yes" apparently preventing update from actually being applied.
Perhaps another program should be called at this point?
Updates work now, but must be downloaded to a windows install first:
/opt/cxoffice/bin/wine /home/share/.cxoffice/dotwine/fake_windows/"Program Files"/Intuit/"QuickBooks Pro"/download/Patch/.update/.target/qbpatch.exe
space after "/opt.../wine" part of command above (helpful note to new users).
Works like a charm. Some menu's are a bit funny, but seems to work fine.
Good Luck
Sweet! Thanks for the tips.

If you get an Update Utility window that says it is trying to close QB and any of it's components, but you do not have QB open, do this:
PID TTY TIME CMD
21871 ? 00:00:00 wineserver
21936 pts/3 00:00:00 bash
(your list will be longer)
should work fine after that...
