Importing a hero from shadows of darkness

So far I have one question: how can I import the character from a previous game? I notice that the QFG5 folder which held the imports subfolder was nowhere I could see. Any help in locating that folder is appreciated. I also have not yet applied the patch but wonder if it will have the same problem. Any help is, as I say, greatly appreciated.

By the by, I cannot describe how ridiculously happy I am with Crossover. The fact that it allows me to download and play QFG5 is amazing. Since I switched to the intel Mac in 2007, I have been trying to find a way of playing this game that did not require me to partition and use windows, nor to write lines and lines of code (!) to make the classic environment function on my computer. This is really a godsend. I am using the trial, but if it works out well, I will certainly purchase the full version.

Thanks!

Hi to anyone who is curious about this. I figured out how to place the .sav file from a previous game into the Imports folder.
The problem was that the original tree of folders to which you'd usually have access has been hidden to simplify the design, I would imagine. So, what you have to do is:

  1. Go to "Configure"
  2. Click on "Manage Bottles"
  3. Choose the bottle where QFG is installed
  4. Click on "Advanced"
  5. Click on "Open C: Drive in Finder"
and from there, you click on "Sierra," click on through to "QFG5" and then "Imports." Once you have that open, just drag your .sav file from whatever game into the folder, and it will appear as an option when you play the game and click Import.

Very exciting!

Hey Matthew - Glad you got it figured out! The contents of a wine bottle are not in "plain sight" because most people have no reason to access/manipulate the contents of the bottle. Hence the button for quickly revealing the bottle's C: drive is under the Advanced tab of the management window.

But once you open a bottle's C: drive, it's easy to see and remember where the bottles are all stored. If you have not already found it, here's where you can find the support information for CX/CXG:

Hiya Aaron, that's awesome, thanks for the insight -- yes I imagine that very few situations would require a user to put files in or take them out of a program like this.
Thanks again for this software. It's amazing.

I am not one of the developers, I'm an Advocate:

But I do agree, it's amazing what you can accomplish with this software! Take care!
