Then I guess the point remains strictly for technological prowess.
I think the quake 3 mac version is classic, which can no longer be run. As for the source code, there are lots of people who do not know how to compile the source code.
ioquake3 runs quake 3 on the Mac just fine, its built on Quake 3's source
There are also Windows and Linux versions
