Praise the gods! A proper Windows version of Timeshock is available for download... with music!

A new Kickstarter campaign to remaster just Timeshock was successfully funded yesterday. As a result, the developers have re-released a Windows version of Timeshock that has all the music in it.... just like Big Race USA. This is not the GOG version that runs the DOS version of the game in DOSBox. I've tested it under Crossover 12.1.2 on OS X and it plays flawlessly! The only issue is that it will lock up if you try to customize the controls, as is an ongoing problem with this and the other PP tables. The tip to run the game in a virtual desktop to avoid this doesn't work. I'll try to experiment with this more for a workaround, but I'm not optimistic on that.

To get the Kickstarter release (not the remaster, which won't be due out for a bit), all you have to do is donate £1 before the time is up. Also of note.. the campaign has a stretch goal to remaster for Linux as well, and they are almost there. More details here:

For dolts like me, can you explain how you got it to work? I install it fine, but on the screen where you select between configuration and loading the game, it appears to be running really fast. If I try to launch the table, it never loads, and eventually when I try to close, I get a Program Error window about how the program has encountered a serious problem.

I simply installed to a new WinXP bottle and ran as is with no special tweaks. The main menu and settings menu is "flittering" really fast, but once launching the table, it played flawlessly. And it played flawlessly when I decided to try using Wineskin. I then tried various options with my Wineskin install to try and resolve that zippy menu, and that was resolved by using the experimental Mac driver, but the game wouldn't play with that enabled so I disabled it. Now, I can't get the blasted thing to play. Not in Wineskin or Crossover. Not even starting over with a new bottle. It just crashes when starting the game. Very weird.

They have posted an update to that Kickstarter version of Timeshock. Apparently it was quite buggy even in Windows. I haven't had a chance to test it in Crossover yet, but I am successfully using it in Wineskin. I had to use the Crossover Games 9.1.0 engine in Wineskin to be able to customize my keys (along with setting the virtual desktop as per the Tips section), and it plays flawlessly with all settings maxed out at 1280x1024. Using this older engine also avoids that problem with the selection screen being so "jittery".
