Portal Iterations/Grapical spasms

The game is running absolutely spectacularly except for just two things. First, I can only see one portal iteration (in other words, if I position my portals so that I can see one portal by looking through the other one, I should see myself and the portals shrinking away into infinity. Instead, I see myself and a blue or orange oval (depending on which portal I'm looking through). Second, I get occasional graphical glitches, where the textures become sort of blocky and patchy. They usually clear up pretty quickly, though in the first map, the glitch remained until I left the room. Other than that, it's great. Nice work guys!

System specs:
2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro
4 GB RAM
GeForce 8600M GT w/ 256 MB VRAM
Mac OS 10.5.1

To fix the portal iterations problem go into the Options and change the "Portal Render Depth" to two. I need to change that whenever I launch portal; it does not save the settings.

Do you have a "-dxlevel" option in your Portal launch options? Using that option forces Source-engine games to revert to "safe" video settings.

In launch options try -dxlevel 81
