It installs

It seems to install fine on my macbook pro 10.8.2 with crossover 12.0b2. Im using a win xp bottle with the crossover html engine, msls31 and wine mono installed. Some people on wineHQ were complaining about the splash screen should showing but it seems to work fine for me.

How're things performance wise?

Ok good time to update, things are messy to say the least, it runs but only just.
Also it seems to be having some issues rendering the text in the UI, everything is displayed as garbage and when you actually guess push you way into a game you see a blue haze that covers everything.
Im open to suggestions?

Hey,
I installed through steam, worked alright, created char,
could run the game (was not able to set graphics(http://www.planetside2.com/error/game.action?code=G12&info=ResetDisplay%20failed) thus 3840x1200 resolution on a 1920x1200 screen, which was odd).

But as soon as i started running around in the 3d world, the game froze.
Turned one screen of to solve the 1920x1200 issue since i could not get into settings, -> loading world -> freeze again.

(0-1 sec of gameplay :P yay!)

I installed it fine, but had a bunch of problems starting up (mostly graphical glitches). I could create a character fine, and get into the server fine, but if I tried to change any graphical options or access any sort of terminal, the game would completely and utterly crash. this was a few days ago, however. Have things changed?

Graphic settings can be changed in the UserOptions.ini inside the PlanetSide2 directory of Steam (i.e. "<pathtosteam>\Steam\steamapps\common\PlanetSide 2\UserOptions.ini"), so you don't have to disable monitors.

If you don't know what you're doing (and probably even if you do), make a backup of any file before you edit it.

As far as my performance goes, I got through character creation, but character model had no texturing. The briefing went well, but initial deployment was a disaster. Nothing but skybox loaded, and respawning didn't change it. After reloading the game, the models started loading, but only the models and the skybox. No lighting or textures on anything. All I was seeing was silhouettes of things, much like my character model during character creation.

With the update 12.0 it doesn't even install anymore...
Some employee tweaked the rating so more ppl buy?

sad

With 12.0 - for me it install and plays now. I haven't played long, but I did not experience any crashes while playing.

Mouse response is not perfect, but somewhat playable. Framerate at walking speeds is good, but with fast turns, the framerate drops pretty low, and would most likely result in a poor K/D ratio.

When exiting, the game crashes. You can logout to character select ok, but when you click exit, it crashes and hangs until I quit the bottle.

BTW I started with a WinXP Exlporer 7 bottle. I installed Core Fonts and Direct X (which installs Dot Net) Then I install Planetside 2. Not sure if it matters, but I didn't feel like waiting for the patch download, so I copied my Planetside folder from a working Win.

We're not employees. The game currently has graphical, mouse, and performance issues --
you're not missing much.

You're right, sorry, stupid comment of mine.

But still it worked better using 11.3 and steam.

Trying 12.0 and steam to run ps2 now.

  • i really wasn't aware that the bronze unsupported medal basically means its not near running anytime soon.

All known issues from winehq apply.
Not much change with the introduction of 12.0
(Install with Steam works better than Normal install for me)
Gameplay freezes after several seconds

I have the same problem as Aaron because it installs fine but when i launch the UI doesn't show and when i start playing the game there is a blue haze and then it says something like "Planetside 2 has encountered a serious problem and has to quit" and then it force close. I know I am a bit late on this thread but also how would you install through steam?

Install "steam" from main menu. When it finished, go to bottle manager and chose install software - chose downloaded before Planetside2 installer ...
