Can be made to work very well

Adapted from instructions for generic wine found at http://www.mulebakken.net/notes/pwp35.php. The main complication is that you need a copy of mscms.dll from an XP installation in order to make color management work. I have no idea of the licensing implications here, but in my case I did have a laptop to copy from. This is what I did:

Copy over c:\windows\system32\mscms.dll from laptop to
.cxoffice/dotwine/fake_windows/Windows/System

Add
"mscms" = "native,builtin"
to [DllOverrides] section of .cxoffice/dotwine/config

mkdir .cxoffice/dotwine/fake_windows/Windows/color

Link dosdevices/e: to ../fake_windows/Windows/temp

Download picture window pro demo
ftp://ftp.bmtmicro.com/bmtmicro/DLC_WEB/Picture%20Window%20(BMT%20Micro)/Picture%20Window%20Pro/setup.exe

Install as unsupported software in cxoffice.

Before running the program:

cp .cxoffice/dotwine/fake_windows/Program\ Files/Digital\ Light\ \&\ Color/Picture\ Window\ Pro\ 3.5/Profiles/* .cxoffice/dotwine/fake_windows/Windows/color/

It runs, with no obvious problems so far.

Woot! Very cool.

Have you considered making a cxtest for this? www.cxtest.org,
or come hang out on IRC at #cxtest on freenode.net...

Cheers,

Jer

Sorry for the delayed reply.

Yes, I've considered it, but I have a more basic question. Does the fact that I have to copy mscms.dll from an XP box kill this application for official support? In my particular case, it's a dual-boot box, so the legality of copying a dll from one place to another on the same machine doesn't seem to be an issue, but certainly it would be impossible for codeweavers to distribute it.

I'd go ahead and try anyway if I didn't have to downgrade vnc first, but as it is, I sort of want to confirm that my efforts will be useful...

Um...since we wouldn't support your use of Picture Window Pro,
you're not harming anything [evil grin].

Since you have a license, you're good, and no, we won't shun
you at the door if you have a problem with a supported app.
Note that it'll be nice to let a support guy know you copied
that dll, but my gut tells me that's not going to affect much.

Cheer,s
