The issues with P5R crashes on Crossover are two-fold.

1. Lack of Denuvo support
2. Problems with the Transacted File Win32 APIs utilised by P5R

It is possible to run this game in Wine, as it currently runs find in Proton. The details of the fixes to problem two can be found here.

Currently, the game will not open at all in Crossover, which is further back than Proton was pre-patch, which likely points to a larger issue with Denuvo.

Another blocking issue, at least on Apple Silicon Macs, is that the game supposedly requires AVX support on the CPU, which is explicitly not supported by Rosetta 2. This is apparently a problem for many games recently developed by Sega, such as Sonic Frontiers.
