Latest update to the patcher breaks it

The latest update to the patcher doesn't seem to work. It hangs after opening. The "torrent" download link on the PWI website still points installs the old patcher. You may have success installing from the torrent and then manually applying the patches here:

http://pwi-ns.perfectworld.com/patches/manual/ec_patch_658-670.cup
http://pwi-ns.perfectworld.com/patches/manual/ec_patch_670-676.cup

I haven't had a chance to try it yet though.

Opening the patcher causes it to auto-update to the new version of the patcher. It seems we need a code wizard to come in and work magic to fix the problem. Either that or someone who knows more about fixes than I. This problem actually has occurred in the past.

The patcher hits a dead lock with:err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x735a28 "?" wait timed out in thread 0025, blocked by 0028, retrying (60 sec)

You can try replacing patcher.exe with the previous version, but chances are the patcher
will lock up/crash before the update installation is complete.

The latest patcher works in the beta release for CrossOver 12. Ask CodeWeavers for beta
access.

Item and skill icons are still missing in game.

I suspect that the beta release uses wine 1.5.17, which I hear works.

Also, the icon problem is fixed by installing I.E. 8.0, if I remember correctly.

Thanks Brian, icons show up after installing Microsoft HTML Rendering Engine 7.

Thanks, now I'm just trying to figure out how to get the launcher to work for me.

Ok, apparently v.12 fixed the launcher, but as soon as I hit the Start button, an error pop-up in gibberish appears and the game closes.

What else do you have in there running apart from PW?

Try running the launcher a few more times. 9 out of 10 times the launcher works and the
game will start. It took me awhile to get an error. I'll take a look at it.

I tried running it in another bottle which has a few modded registries and quite a few runtimes and there the game starts, but it crashes after selecting character, who do seem a bit off (some textures missing and some models are static).

From reading the logs it seems that it is unable to read the textures from the files

Also the gibberish message I get on the clean install does mention the models\players\ route.

PS: @sevae I don't know if this is of any relevance, but your crosstie in the Tips&Tricks Section doesn't seem to work.

The Crosstie link should work in a few days.

Upload the debug log from patcher.exe to http://pastie.org, or a file upload site. Reply
with a link to the log.

edit -- Run patcher.exe using an empty bottle.

This is the error log for the patcher: http://pastie.org/5549148

I also run a debug for elementclient.exe, here is it's log: http://pastie.org/5549174

Funny thing is that the elementclient also return the following message:

Command error text:

edit -- removing post so other people don't mess with these settings.

I was unable to find a solution to the problem Antony is having with the game. It also
seems to be a problem for quite a few Windows and Wine users. Here is the game error:

edit -- reinstalling the game fixed the problem.

Well I just tried installing it, and it seems to just constantly update itself and say it's done, but the play and/or verify button doesn't work. I've even set the dx9 settings in the regedit and installed dx9 but I can't get past the launcher...

EDIT: a black box of some sort pops up possibly with a error of some sort but I can't tell

EDIT 2: ok nvm though now I seem to be stuck in verification
