Help for newbie

I have never used Crossover before.

  • I downloaded the installer from here ( http://pwi.perfectworld.com/download/client )
  • I ran crossover and created a new Windows XP bottle with DX 9 installed.
  • I copied the installer file to the "C:" drive that the bottle created
  • I used the "Run Command" button to run the installer.

I immediately get the error message "GetThreadContext failed" in a window with the tital "Fatal error in gc"
I click Ok and get "Wine program crash" "Internal errors - invalid parameters received"

Am I doing something wrong?

I don't know the game but to install it go to the menu Configure and choose Manage Bottles. A little window will open. There select (click on) the bottle and then click on Applications (tab on right hand side of the window) and Install Software. In the new window click on Select an Installer -> Choose Installer File and choose the game installer.

That should install your game :)

That results in the same error message I mentioned in my first post. 😥

I posted a guide in Tips & Tricks on how to manually install the game. You can also watch
a screencast when I installed the game.

Just be aware that the game is not supported, and not everything works. In game, almost
all item and skill icons are replaced with the icon of a question mark ([link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=TgjXt8Cq_i4&hd=1#t=221s]3:40 in the
screencast[/link]). The patcher will also lock up if you mouse-over the buttons before it's
ready to update/launch the game. ... other lesser problems.

If you would like to see the game supported, go to Details and click the Vote for Support
button.

Thanks for the info I will try it out. I don't intend to play the game I just want to run my shop on my low power (< 30 watt) linux box rather than leave my 400+ watt gaming rig running 24/7.

I successfully installed it by using SSH to connect to my home computer. 😏

It crashes with the error "Wine program crash" "Internal errors - invalid parameters received" when I try to launch it over the SSH connection. I will try launching it locally when I get home hopefully it will work. 😀
