I just bought crossover games a few days ago and am having a heck of a time with this game as well. I opened a ticket over a week ago and they did link me here http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=5840;forum=1;msg=106727 and this seems to have fixed that control.exe error message ( or more accurately hides it) but I have personally had a heck of a time running the game in a fashion I would consider playable. I have tested on two machines with different hardware setups and on both I can only get this game to run in windowed mode but in fullscreen it stops responding and requires me to press and hold the power button to shut down the PC after 10-30 minutes. This wouldn't normally bother me to play in windowed but this game fopr some reason runs really choppy and just plain bad in windowed mode through crossover. I would be very interested to hear if you have to same issue as I have had no help from support so far for this.
Oh, and just to warn you in advance I have also been having a problem with the patcher. It will say you need to patch and ask you to do so. HIT NO!! If you hit yes it will crash. After you hit no you have the Update button at the top of the patcher. Hit that button and then patch, it works fine when you do it that way. Every time you open the game it will say you need to patch but the current build is 528 so as long as you have that just ignore the message when you close and reopen the game.
