Installing PC Study Bible 5.0

I had some troubles at first getting past the installation of PC Study Bible 4.2C to add the upgrades to 5.0. Here is how I finally got the 5.0 to load in and work. Each disc has to be installed as a separate application. When the disc is inserted, and the crossover installation window comes up, load each 5.0 disc onto the 4.2C bubble, then set it as a separate application in the application drop down box. Once you do this the disc installation window should give you three options. This works until you get to the final upgrade of the set of 3 discs. You then just load in each disc as the screen tells you to. It takes a little longer, but the app works fine once you have done this. The only probelm I have is that the devotional on the desktop screen doesn't work on the correct date.

Hey I am trying to install the 5.0 upgrade as well and I am unable to complete it. Wondering if you would be able to give me some more helpful details in walking through the upgrade process from 4 to 5.0.

Hi Phil,

Create a new winxp bottle

Then install your 4.2 software beginning with the basic program and then all your 4.x add-ons. Then, install your 5.0 upgrade into the same bottle. Once this is done you should be able to install your 5.0 compatible add-ons.

If this does not work for you, let me know what you are doing step by step and we can take it from there.

so I started brand new by installing 4.2 in a new winxp bottle... when it is finished and i insert the upgrade cd 5 do i choose advanced install or basic install? and how do install each disc as a separate application?

You do a basic install. Treat each of the add-ons (your books and resources) as an install into the same bottle.

If I do a basic install it does not give me an option to choose what bottle I want to put it in... any different way I could get ahold of you if you don't mind... ie cell phone?

I am traveling right now so a phone conversation will be difficult. However on Monday you can call me at 443-522-9430.

However, the choice of bottles is in the basic install of CrossOver:

On the configure menu select Install Software.

Select Other Application on the "Select Application to Install" tab
Select "Chose install file" on the second tab and browse to the CD and the setup (or is it install?) file
On the "Select Bottle into which to install" Select the bottle you installed Version 4 and the V5 update (my bottle is called PC Bible)
Then click on Proceed...

I just went through the install of PCSB 4.2, upgrade to 4.3C and then upgrade to 5.0F. I am running Fedora Core 14 and Crossover Professional 9.2.0.

I had zero problems installing PCSB 4.2 (well I did forget to set the CD drive path properly, but that was my fault).

Upgrading to 4.3C was difficult until I figured out that there was a window that was hidden behind all the other windows. For some reason I could not bring it to the front even though it had (or seemed to have) focus. What I did was to just hit the enter key when the upgrade paused. This answered "Ok" to the warning prompt about the upgrade. The upgrade went smoothly.

Upgrading to 5.0F was also easy (I already figured out the hidden window in the 4.3C upgrade). I set the CD path, started the install, hit the enter key when everything seemed to be frozen and I am now running PCSB 5 with all my addons.

So far I am satisfied with how PCSB is working.

Hey I recently purchased the PC Study bible 5. I am about to install codeweavers into my computer. Any advice on the best install & instructions on installing the software (PC version 5)

Basically, just install it. Follow the directions above.
