Unplayable

Unless I'm missing something, this game is unplayable on Linux or at least on Ubuntu 10.04 x86-32. Within a few minutes after loading and trying to play, it eats up over 3GB of RAM and then crashes because it's out of memory. Has anyone else experienced this? It's either a massive memory leak or I'm missing some setting somewhere.

What version of Crossover are you on? There was a memory leak bug until wine 1.5.25. Try the latest version of CX and see how it goes.

Also, you know that 10.04 is EOL right?

Wow, I was on version 12.2.0. Could've sworn I upgraded to the latest recently but I guess not. I'll give that a shot.

Yeah, I know 10.04 is EOL but I loathe GNOME 3 and have been putting off the upgrade because of it. I've never been a fan of KDE either but I've been warming up to Xfce on my work computer recently so I'll probably go that route. GNOME used to be such a solid desktop. Now it's just unreliable, user-hostile crap..but I digress.

So, upgrading to 12.5.0 helped a lot. No more memory leak and the graphics are much smoother. Now just need to figure out why all the fonts look horrible and the sound is stuttering..people sound like chipmunks too.

I wonder if it's not this bug that you're experiencing:

I feel your pain about Gnome. I loved Lucid and managed to adjust to Unity in Precise.
