pain shop pro 9 dll question

running psp 9 on imac running crossover trial, so far so good. hoping to get some plugins working and I know on windows these two dll files were needed (went into system 32 folder on windows), where do I put them on the mac? plugin.dll and msvcrt10.dll are th eones I am talking about, TIA!

For plugin.dll you open the Bottle Manager, select the PSP9 bottle, click on the Open C: Drive button. Place the file in windows->system32.

For msvcrt10.dll install this in the PSP 9 bottle:

https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=7994
(click on the big green button on that page)

thank you, did the first one, but the only green button on the page from that link says install miscrosoft visual c++, is that the one? I hope so, I did what it said and chose new bottle, since it said that would be best, or should I have put into psp 9 bottle? (if it sounds like I know what I am saying I don't, lol)

Yes. The file you need is part of a redistributable package.

thank you.

hoping you can help me with this issue too. I used amp font viewer on windows, and I have it working with crossover, but I used to be able to select a font in font viewer, and use it in psp 9 without having to install it. now not only can I not do that, but even if I temporarily install it, the only fonts I see in the drop down list in psp are the mac fonts that are installed, I can see none of the fonts I have in a folder on the mac and I pointed font viewer to them, so I can see them all in the program, but psp is seeing none of them...

You will need to install the font viewing program in the same bottle as PSP9. CrossOver, by default, creates a new bottle for every program.

thank you so much!

I would never have thought of that. I have psp9 bottled twice and also an ftp program, should I delete one of each?
is there any harm in having both? and what about the bottle with just font viewer in it? should I remove it too, now that
I added it to psp 9 bottle?

How can I open psp 9 and font viewer and animation shop (all in the same obttle) easily? I am used to windows shortcuts, is there something similar? I have icons in applications for psp and anim shop but they do not work and there is not one for font viewer

also, I am using the trial and I am ready to get the registered version, I don't have to delete the trial and start all over?
I just register it and everything else stays the same?

I'd keep using the trial until it expires. Make sure that everything works as expected. When you decide to register you won't have to re-install anything. Here's how it's done:
https://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/install
(skip to step 3)

Here's a tutorial on creating shortcuts for programs on Mac OS X:
Create a launcher application icon for a .exe

There should not be a problem with having that font viewer in another bottle. It just takes up some space. You can leave it there or delete that bottle.

For animation shop you just probably need to add a shortcut.

Thank you.

naturally I did it wrong the first time.

How do I delete bottles correctly? (so I do not have psp 9 and psp9-2 bottles and font viewer in the psp bottle and in a separate bottle) and how do I delete the shortcuts and start over once I have gotten rid of extra bottles?

update: I do now have application icons (in applications) for psp and anim shop that open their respective programs, but do not have one for font viewer. I can find it when I go to programs from top bar when crossover is open, but there is more than one of them there (until I figure out how to delete them), and I would love to have an icon in applications for it as well, but using run command did not work that way...(I hope that made sense)

plus, I have font viewer in the same bottle as psp 9, but I still cannot get it to work like it did on windows. I could just select a font in font viewer and then see it in the list of fonts in paint shop to use, without installing it. I cannot do that now. I can do a temp install of fonts, and then every so often delete the temp installed fonts, maybe that is the best I will be able to do ( now it seems like I cannot even do that, may be I am in the wrong font viewer, the one not in the bottle with psp) I need to delete the ones I did and start over

Regarding bottle deletion here's a tutorial:

I am lost. when i access crossover from top menu, programs, I have two sets of amp font viewer and two psp 9, and they are separate bottles apparently, how do I start all over with no crossover and no bottles and start completely from scratch? this appears to be the only way to get rid of duplicates, so when I open font viewer, perhaps it will work the way it should. right now, I cannot just select a font in viewer and then use in psp, instead I have to temp install and then close psp and then reopen and then maybe it will be there to use.

I understand I cannot just install hundreds and hundreds of fonts or it will slow everything down or I would just do that

The duplicate PSP entries might be from the desktop link and the one that gets created in the Start menu on Windows. I've no idea how that gets dealt with on Mac OS X. On Linux desktops you get what you'd get on Windows: a desktop shortcut and another one in the "start" menu.

You can try to suppress and de-clutter that menu by de-activating links in Bottle Manager. Select the bottle where PSP is installed, go to Control Panel tab, click on Edit Menus then on the Launch Selected Item button. You'll get a window that has 3 columns: Show (can be ticked), Menu Name, Path. Try unticking the ones that have path set to "Desktop" then click on the Apply button.

FWIW, the font viewer seems to have created double entries on my Linux install too... I'll play around with it and see if I can correct that weird behaviour.

thank you. My concern is having more than one instance of font viewer installed and not running the same one each time

i tried what you said, but in control panel there is no option for edit menus

I understand but to make sure you have one instance you need to remove all other bottles except the one where PSP is installed. I linked to a tutorial that explains how bottles are removed in a previous post. Go through the steps and if you find something unclear, ask here.

I did do that, and thank you for all your help, but I cannot figure how to remove them from crossover programs (top menu bar) and I wonder if the reason amp font viewer is not behaving like I thought it would is because I need to also put my fonts folder in the bottle as well, right now it is in my mac documents folder and I pointed to it and font viewer would display all the fonts enclosed, but would not let me use one without temp install and then close psp and then reopen each time, maybe if they are in the same bottle that will change?

Removing the bottles should have removed the link too. Any that have remained are probably from the PSP bottle(unless CrossOver behaves differently from this p.o.v on Mac OS) . You can "clean" them up as I indicated in my previous post.

Regarding how fonts are used, as far as I know, CrossOver makes use of what is available on the host system and what's installed in the bottle. You could write to ninjas@codeweavers.com and ask them. Even if you're on the trial version, they will try to help you.
