Solution for install on macOS ?

Hello,

I want to install Origin with Crossover 20.0.4 on macOS Big Sur but no solutions seem functional.

I tested :

Has anyone been successful recently?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Can you exactly show me the error that Origin Throws at you? I wrote the tip to install it, on linux it works like a charm using my c script. Ah got it the error is on the C script side it was made for linux (debiand derivates) not mac you must edit it to make origin work the lines system ("mkdir ~/.cxoffice/Origin/drive_c/Origin"); and system ("chmod 777 ~/.cxoffice/Origin/drive_c/Origin"); must be modified accordingly to mac os. the symbol ~/ doesn't work on mac it can't locate the position of the Origin folder in the C drive of your bottle. Just edit those lines adding the exact path of the Origin folder in your Origin Bottle, do it and follow the instruction I gave it should work this time. I hope it helps you know things that works on linux might not work on mac os...

Hi,

Did you keep the C script (shown in the crosstie's instructions) running before you started the setup process?

Script doesn't work on my mac,
"mkdir ~/.cxoffice/Origin/drive_c/Origin"
"mkdir: /Users/(userNameComputer)/.cxoffice/Origin/drive_c: No such file or directory"

but i found a solution based on your script,
-install normal until failed, this is for creating bottle
-open terminal
-go to directory based crossover bottle , in my case: "/Users/(userNameComputer)/Library/Application\ Support/CrossOver/Bottles/Origin\ (Electronic\ Arts)/drive_c/Program\ Files "
-create folder "Origin (Electronic Arts)" manually inside "Program Files" bottle
-run chmod 777 Origin (Electronic Arts)
-select as destination manually when install game

Hi,

So does it work now?

yes, it's work
Thank you...

You are welcome I'll use your feedback to improve my script for mac users. Glad to hear it worked for you bye bye

I may be late to the party, but I can confirm that this works for purely Origin games. Games that involve more than one distribution platform (for example an EA game bought on Steam) continue to be a problem for me.

Hi.

Total novice here and not a programmer at all. I have tried the steps suggested manually (running a terminal at folder to execute the commands) and even when I get the programme to run all the way through using crossover, it doesn't actually install an application for me to use.

Is anyone able to talk me through this step by step? I am running crossover on a 2019 Intel Mac / Catalina.

Hugely grateful for any help!

Cheers.
