Newsbin Pro 5 Forum

Newbin 4.32 installed and tested under Crossover 4.1 with Xandros Deluxe and Debian Sarge. Works beautifully. Some notes added to known issues and Tips & Tricks.

Newsbin has an issue under Windows. Every now and then it just hangs or suffers from poor performance. This has been attributed to an issue with Newsbin and Windows paging. For this reason better performance can be seen when using Newsbin under linux with Crossover than the same system running Windows.

I have sucessfully run Newsbin under linux quite well on machines that are significantly less powerfull than the Minimum requirements to run Newsbin under Windows.

I strongly recommend dual booters to give Newsbin a try under linux!

I'll see what I can do. I tried downloading the Cxtest software but have not managed to get it to compile properly. I will look at it again when time permitts. Not wild about adding anything that uses VNC to my machine but I will have to judge it when I get a chance to run it. I would also like to test the latest beta but so far I am still getting "access denied".
