Sorry I dropped off the planet on this question. I got so frustrated, I just walked away. blush
Of course, I'm trying again and running in to the same problems. I've set up a test user and installed 4.2 and then 4.0 and neither of those works. Also, I re-tried with 3.0.1 and that doesn't work either. I installed at the command line in 3.0.1, using wine and the path to the install files (I have copies of my CDs on my drive) and it hangs after I select the Install option. A new window pops open and the music goes away and then nothing. At the command line, I get several screens dumped which are all nonsense to me.
I am trying to install the full game. When I tried to install under my 3.0.1 version, I have at least one other game working (Starcraft). I also have a lot of other games that are installed but won't run or had errors during the install.
For the 4.2 and the 4.0 installs, this is the first game I've installed.
I'll try to check back here soon to see if there's any responses (instead of walking away this time!). Meanwhile, it sounds like my husband has managed to get the Linux version running. I'd much prefer to have the more complete Windows version running under Wine though.
Anne.
