Hello,
I recently installed this setup on my Mac and, though it was pretty straightforward, I thought someone else might benefit from me spelling out the recipe.
WHAT WORKS
The game, including GameSpy server browsing.
WHAT DOESN'T
The toolset.
Movies.
INGREDIENTS
1) Legal copies of Neverwinter Nights, Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark.
2) Crossover Games 7.0.0.
3) iMac.
PREPARATION
1) Download latest patch (1.68 at time of writing) from this page: http://nwn.bioware.com/support/patch.html. You will need to use the link 'Critical Rebuild'.
METHOD
1) Insert NWN Install Disk 1. Crossover Games will notice and ask you how to proceed. Choose Express Install, or Advanced if you really want to, but Express will work.
2) Just let NWN install all the way.
3) Insert NWN Shadows of Undrentide. This time, tell Crossover Games to do an Advanced Install. When asked to select a bottle, be sure to select the same bottle that you installed NWN into. Ignore the little message in red.
4) Do the same with Hordes of the Underdark.
5) When all is done, and the patch from Preparation is downloaded, manually start the installer process (Configure menu, Install Software).
6) Install Unsupported Software, Continue. Other existing bottle: select the one with NWN in it. Ignore red message, continue. Choose Installer File, and select the patch you just downloaded.
7) Once that's done installing, go to Programs menu, Run Command. Choose your NWN bottle and enter 'notepad.exe'.
8) When Notepad is running, choose File, Open, then go to C: and find your NWN installation folder. Open the file nwn.ini.
9) Under [Display Options] enter the following two lines:
Disable Intro Movies=1
AllowWindowedMode=1
10) Save, quit Notepad. Now you have a working, playable NWN. :)
HANDY HINTS
- While playing the game, press Option-Return to switch to windowed mode.
- If you ever hear sounds, but see nothing on the screen, press Escape. It's probably playing a movie, which doesn't work. Pressing Escape quits the movie and brings you back to gameplay.
DISCLAIMER
- This procedure worked for me. That's all. So there.
