You need to enable native overrides for the following DLLs, this did the trick for me.
devenum dmband dmcompos dmime dmloader dmscript dmstyle dmsynth dmusic dmusic32 dswave streamci quartz dsound

You need to enable native overrides for the following DLLs, this did the trick for me.

Is it just a matter of adding those dll overrides and setting them to "native" or do you have to get the dll files from a copy of windows? I've added the dll overrides and set them to native, and the cut scenes now play, but there's no music or sound whatsoever.
For some games I'd just shrug and carry on but I think sound is a big part of myst.

nevermind, I put dlls from a copy of windows into windows/system32 and it started working, so I guess that answers my question
