Downloaded the full installer, then ran using the crossover games installer program, all went smoothly, even the uru updater worked. I know other have been running it under linux with some issues surrounding the cursor and sound but most have been fixable so I will give it a try. Loved uru in all its previous incarnations.
Ok, got it all running but very slow, couldn't see some parts of my avatar in the setup screen (choosing clothes etc) but the menu did respond. Loading actual Age took forever so I will try again later to see if it is timing/lag issue with the server.
Seems to be having trouble starting up the first age - but it might just be server issues. Am installing on my windows machine to compare and see. Will post after that.
Also makes me think I should go and try original URU again with latest crossover games version, as everything else seems to work fine.
Ok, used same install file and account and ran on my windows machine, logged in and walking around ok. So something not quite right with install under ubuntu - will try looking at the wine cfg settings and play around.
Going to give it a go now with newer version of crossover games for linux as having more success with some other games from same era. More to come soon.
Just tried it on crossover games as well. Had a similar problem with parts of my avatar not showing up (arms, legs etc). Was able to walk around Relto for a bit then it crashed. Also some face textures/objects wouldn't load, like glasses. Have you made any progress.
Wow - at least you got to relto. I have installed it on my windows machine to check that my connection from here in Australia (or the time I was logging on) was not causing big delays, but that seems fine, just a bit slow.
I will give it a try again in a few days once I get some other work done and see if I can tinker with the settings to help it out. There are some good pointers on the MO:UL again forums for using it with Wine and lists of common problems so I will use those for reference - you might want to check them out.

Yah well it starts you on Relto, i didn't really make it inside the library. Also I didn't have visible legs so that was a problem too.
My vista laptop ran it but it crashed but I think for different reasons.
I'll check out the forums next time I'm messing with it.
Going to give it another try now under CX games 9.0.0 and Ubuntu 10.04 - will post an update shortly.
