Initial Observations of MYOB under CrossOver

I have just finished by first full BAS run using MYOB under CrossOver Linux including three months of accounting catchup and it all worked pretty well.

The following observations were made:

  • The MYOB file needs to be opened from a local or mapped CrossOver/Wine drive
  • Not all GUI tabs in the application work, so the ALT key and the shortcut has to be used in a number of situations
  • Occasionally doing the MYOB Backup (check and zip) the application fails with a user error. You need to removed the lock file (*.lck) in the MYOB data file directory before it will start again. There has been no side-effects or corruption because of this.
  • The BAS-Link report works fine on-screen but will not print - I had to screen dump it to get my figures for the ATO
  • Most other reports work fine although a couple of my custom reports do not - still investigating that one.
