MLwiN exits with run-time error 451

In CC Mac 6.0, if the MS fonts are installed, MLwiN opens but returns:

Run-time error '451':

Property let procedure not defined and property get procedure did not return an object.

This also happens if one tries to paste spreadsheet data into MLwiN instead of just opening a worksheet.
