Microsoft Word 2003 Forum

Hello…just wondering if anyone else is having a similar problem to the one I’m having…

I recently upgraded to COO 5.0 and with that upgrade I installed Office 2003. One important aspect of Word is the ability to insert hyperlinks in a document and be able to click on them to navigate to other documents or locations within the same document. The ability to create links is there…but clicking on those links takes me nowhere.

Has anyone seen this problem? I know Codeweavers is working hard to improve the Office 2003 compatibility.

I have also noticed this issue with links generated in the TOC. When hovering over the link it indicates it should go to "file:///Y...". It would be nice for this to work.

Hmm, interesting. Of course, since Word believes it is running on a Windows machine, it uses drive letters to refer to file locations. The virtual C: drive refers to the bottle's folder, but CrossOver also creates a virtual Y: drive which refers to your home folder (and a Z: drive referring to base of the file system).

So, Word is sensibly creating links to file:///Y...

However, when you click on them, there's no Windows program within the bottle set up to handle file: links. At worst, the attempt to access the link is ignored. At best, it passes the URL to a Mac-native tool to try to launch it. However, the Mac-native tool won't know about Windows-style paths and CrossOver's virtual drive letters.
