Word 2002 crashes while Assistent initializes

After a fresh install, Word main window appears, requests user name and opens a further window "Please stand by while the Assistent initializes..." (my translation of German version). Then Word recognizes "a problem" and must be cancelled with the following details:

AppName: winword.exe     AppVer: 10.0.2627.0     ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0     Offset: 5a6904d2

Any ideas?
