Microsoft Visio 2010 Forum

Installed Microsoft Visio 2010 using Crossover 11.3.1 on a Mac 10.8.2. installation ran smoothly, even saw the dialog for installing the Webdings font package. But when I run Visio and open a document, some expected fonts are missing, specifically Calibri. it is not appearing in the font menu. Also noticed that the Visio UI (ribbon, task panes) font is not antialiased.

Calibri is installed on the system, along with other core Microsoft Office fonts (like Cambria). Verified using Office 2010 apps on the same computer.

is there some setting i can adjust to have Calibri show up within Visio, or be accessed in this bottle? Crossover recommended that I install it in a Windows XP bottle, is that the limitation?

also noticing that the Visio app itself is not appearing with the Windows Aero glass appearance, but instead looks like the Basic mode window appearance. And the font smoothing not appearing to work.

More info... to insure that the fonts were on the Mac system (I had already installed Office 2010), I also downloaded and installed the Microsoft XML Converter, according to this article, which states that the fonts install along with the app:

and the fonts work fine on my Office 2010 apps, but they dont show up at all inside the Visio 2010 app running under Crossover.

Regarding the font issues. Did you install Visio in the same bottle where Office is instaled? If not, there's where the problem might be.

On wine and Crossover you don't get "Aero". The compositor that does those fancy effects is only on Windows. What is a compositor? Simply put, the thing that allows you do the the "expose" trick and also manages your windows on your Mac OS X desktop

Thanks for the quick response :) didnt install any other applications, only Visio 2010. Do I have to install the full Windows Office 2010 suite first before Visio?
The version of Office I have installed on this Mac is the Mac Office 2011 suite, not Windows Office 2010.

Well in one of your previous posts you mentioned "Office 2010". It's probably a typo. That is why I asked about it.

Hmm I've just downloaded the trial of visio 2010 and installed it. I get Calibri allright:

going to try removing this bottle, then opening a new one and install Windows Office Standard 2010, then Visio 2010 into the same bottle, see what happens.
Does Crossover say that it only supports a Windows XP bottle for you? I have options to create other bottles, but they say they are incompatible. screenshot...

Ok got it working... downloaded the Crossover 12 trial, installed Office 2010 and Visio 2010 and now the fonts are rendering just fine :) what a great solution!

So to be clear, the Crossover 11 wasnt working, seems to be working in Crossover 12. Running Mac OSX 10.8.2, installed Office 2010 and then Visio 2010 into a Windows XP bottle. Crossover still said that all other bottles were incompatible.
