Doesn't install

"Setup encountered an error during installation"

Anyone else have this problem, or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks

Hi Adam,

I have Visio 2010 SP1 running under Crossover11/MacOS
When installing Visio I got a message at the very end of the installation that a single installation step wasn't executed. However, this seems to be non-critical as installer actually had finished and redirects to some Microsoft Visio site.
I noticed that the Programs menu didn't have any links to Visio, but I could start Visio from the file system and add the links to the menu manually.

Havn't used it extensivly, but didn't notice any problems so far.

Some additional notes (of which I do not know whether they are relevant): I didn't activate the installation during the install but later and after the installation I reinstalled the VC2008 Runtime as it was suggested in some forum/support post

Might be a dumb question, but have you checked that there are not only the program menu items missing, but everything else is there and can be launched manually?

Stefan

Thanks for the help Stefan, I've managed to get the installer working. This time I tried installing it in a new bottle (instead of my existing office 2010 bottle), and I unchecked the "automatically activate" box. It told me that some updates weren't installed (I'm guessing SP1, as that was bundled with the installer), but all the files are there, and visio is in the start menu, so it all seems OK.

At first it doesn't launch, but I followed your advice and installed VC Runtime 2008, and it started launching OK. I still had to activate over the telephone though.

Now it's up and running, everything seems to work ok!

Thanks again for your help.
