Microsoft Visio 2003 Forum

I was excited to try Visio 2003...

Unfortunately it runs exceedingly slowly. Don't think I should be cpu bound.. HL-2 and CS:S both run suprisingly well. Not so with Visio. I can watch screen redraws repaint before my eyes :/

I'll do some more testing - I didn't install any other pieces of Office and I haven't installed IE either (which I realized it didn't like to have missing when searching for stencils).

Is it possible that by not having an Office compenent or IE installed thats why it seems to be running slowly for me and no one else?

I had similar results with Visio 2003 running under the cxoffice 6.0 pro release. I have the supported Office 2003 applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook) and IE 6SP2 installed into a Windows 2000 bottle. Visio works well, but is extremely slow (and unusable for anything more than printing drawings or viewing them).

Same here on a Athlon64X2. Rebuild of the sheet goes extremely slow. The slowness depends on the number of elements in your viewport. At each action (add,move and even scroll), the complete screen gets rebuilt. If this gets fixed I think VIsio is even worth a Silver Medal.
