JPEGs in Visio drawings gets 'transperent'

Embedded pictures in my Visio pages often "gets transparent" – after I save the document and re-open it, the picture goes blank, and I can only see its circumference (shape boundary) in the drawing.
When I 'point' the drawing in the file, I can still see the picture in the preview thumbnail, but not when I re-open it. Drives me nuts. I think it only happen with Jpeg, not with bmp. Any clues?

Which platform, Mac or Linux?

It is known that current versions of CrossOver Mac lack some support for JPEGs. Future releases should fix that. I'm not certain if that will fix this issue, though.
