"newer version of windows needed"

I also get this dialog from visio 2003. I wondered if anyone had found a solution in the last few months ?

Cheers,

This message is because the CXO is configured to use Windows 98 as the default operating system type. If you change it in the configuration file or during the custom installation process it will not appear. The minimum OS requirements for the Office 2003 suite are Win2000 with Service Pack 3, Windows XP, or Windows 2003.

Of course if you get past that, like I have, it will just exit with no error message.

Strange, I've tried to set the windows version to XP but the message came up nonetheless.

Hi there,

In order to get the Visio 2003 setup to even think about launching, Windows 2000 or above must be selected as the operating system version. To do this, run CrossOver Office Setup, click Install, select "Install unsupported software", click Next, and select Windows 2000 under the "Windows version for this application" list. The default Visio installation profile in Supported applications will not work. However, I am still to get Visio to install correctly - but you never know, you might be able to get it to work. Please tell me how you get on.

If you (or anyone else reading this) require any help on trying to install Visio 2003, please do ask - I am more than happy to be of assistance.

Visio 2003 is still out of reach; we're closing in on having
the nightly builds start to run these apps, but we're not
there yet.

Mike is hoping next week, but those are famous last words...

I'd plan on checking back March 1.

Any News already?
I have tons of Visio2003 files which I need to work on and preferably without buying a Windows license...
Thanks a lot,
Raph

Well, the nightly builds kinda sorta install apps from the 2003
range, but I don't think we've even tried Visio 2003 yet.

Worth a try, but I wouldn't expect much. The good news is that
we are, in fact, closing in, so it won't be too much longer until
it's in a really rough state.

Cheers,

Jer

I do get an error message after that one. It complains about not being able to connect to the Windows Installer Service. Is that something I need to download or is this something crossover shold be handling? It happens if i choose win2k or winxp.

I hate to keep bugging you.... but I'm bug you.

Have there been any updates on getting Visio 2003 working? I hate starting up VMWare just to make a couple of changes to a Visio Doc.

Is there some advance on Visio 2003. This is the last app because of which I have to restart my pc and load windows :(

I get to the install program, enter in my serial, then get an error: Microsoft Office Visio Professional Setup cannot continue because the installation source has been corrupted. Any ideas people? Does anyone know if 2002 works, I may choose to downgrade if I can't install Visio 2003. Getting a visio version to work is however what will decide if I buy Cross Over or not, since 2003 is the version I have via MSDN I value it's installation.
