I believe Microsoft's new strategy is to tie us to Windows by creating file format incompatibilities. I believe OneNote is central to that strategy. I realized after a genorous 60-day preview of Onenote that there was little way to get my data out.. except into HTML.

To make matters worse, I could not export all my notes to a common format.

If you are considering Onenote, I highly reccomend Infomagic or Infomagic Extra. (particularly InfoMagic Extra). (Win Only).

any other notetaking programs people could reccomend?

I love applications like this, and am in despirate need for a really good notebook app for linux. everything that I have used thus far natively can not compare. One of two things need to happen.

1) The linux community gets on the ball and focuses some effort on ..::ONE::.. of the many notes apps for linux

2) We have to work on getting this to run smoothly on linux in an emulated environment

Obviously the first option is the best, but also the least likely.
